Catherine Howson, RP, Clinical Supervisor
Catherine Howson holds a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). She has specialized training in addictions counselling, couples therapy, trauma treatment, critical incident response and has extensive experience working with mandated clients within the justice system. She has training and expertise in providing cognitive-behaviour therapy for mood and anxiety disorders, cognitive processing therapy for trauma responses, solution-focused brief therapy for single-session counselling and Adlerian psychodynamic interventions, where appropriate.
Catherine is particularly passionate about supporting new and emerging therapists with support and mentorship. She provides clinical supervision to Master’s degree students and Qualifying Psychotherapists to support them in their journey to becoming independent practitioners.
Her counselling philosophy is client-centred, trauma-informed, inclusive and culturally informed. She believes that even the most vulnerable people bring strengths and resiliency to the counselling process; it is our role as clinicians to provide support and build on existing resources and strengths in our clients.

Supervision in issues concerning anxiety and mood disorders, grief, addictions, stress, relationship issues, parenting, trauma, couples counselling

Supervising with CBT, SFBT, EFT/Gottman couples, psychodynamic, harm reduction, MI/stages of change modalities

Education regarding conceptualization and treatment planning, developmental model (providing less education as experience progresses), consultation
